Training

I provide training in science communication, visibility, public speaking, science writing, and comedy for things like Homeward Bound, Bright Club, Soapbox Science, Famelab, and Threesis. I’ve also taught improvisation for Belfast Improv, Galway Theatre Festival, and Improv Fest Ireland. Here are some things people have said about my work:

“I have had the opportunity to see Jessamyn in action, designing and delivering science communication training in contexts as diverse as Africa, Europe, and the United States. Jessamyn is a brilliant scientist and a talented communicator, and she brings both of these attributes together when delivering training. Her sessions are engaging and interactive, bridging disciplinary, geographic, and other boundaries.”
– Dr Rose M. Mutiso, CEO, Mawazo Institute

“Jessamyn is a passionate and skilled science communicator. She takes her enthusiasm and expertise into her training to deliver effective sessions, where participants practice their communication skills in a friendly and relaxed environment.”
– Dr Dara Stanley, Soapbox Science organiser and UCD Professor

“Not only does Jessamyn have incredible knowledge of science communication but she combines this with a sense of humour which puts workshop participants at ease. In her training sessions, we begin a group of quiet strangers and by the end we have a raucous bunch of people sharing the stories of their amazing research.”
– Ruth Hynes, NUI Galway, Organizer of the Threesis – 3 slides, 3 minutes, 3 judges
